There is a particular kind of Arizona evening that only happens at the water's edge in October. The heat finally lets go, the light over Lake Pleasant turns gold, and a country band starts up.

That is Peoria Country Fest, and this year it lands on Thursday, October 8, 2026 at Pleasant Harbor, the marina on the lake's southeastern shore. Doors run 2 p.m. to 10 p.m.

Four country acts are on the bill — Justin Hitson & Southbound, the Billy Shaw Jr Band, Ryan Bexley and Josh Roy. Add a mechanical bull, a beer garden and a row of food trucks, and you have an eight-hour day out.

Eight hours is exactly why you should not be the one driving home.

Why Lake Pleasant Is a Chauffeur Day, Not a Designated-Driver Day

Pleasant Harbor sits about 40 minutes north of central Peoria, up past the edge of the development where the desert opens out and the cell service thins. It is a beautiful drive. It is a long one in the dark.

There is also a $7 per-vehicle harbor entry fee on top of your festival ticket. One coach instead of six cars is one fee instead of six, and one set of headlights winding back down Castle Hot Springs Road at 10 p.m. instead of six.

Most of all: there is a beer garden, and the whole point of a beer garden is that nobody in your group has to keep count.

What the day actually looks like

• 1:15 p.m. — we collect your group in Peoria, Glendale or wherever the group starts. Coolers on board, music on, the drive north becomes part of the event.
• 2:00 p.m. — doors. Early gates mean shade, a good spot near the stage and first crack at the food trucks.
• Through the afternoon — your coach stays parked and climate-controlled. It is your basecamp for cold drinks, a charging cable, a place to change into something warmer when the lake breeze picks up.
• 10:00 p.m. — last note plays, you walk to a vehicle that is already running, and the lot empties itself around you while you sit down.

VIP, Camping, or Somewhere in Between

Peoria Country Fest sells advance tickets from $30 for adults and from $10 for kids 12 and under, with a limited run of VIP passes starting at $75 that add a meal, private acoustic sets and dedicated seating and restrooms.

There is a camping option too — hook-up sites and dry camping, three-night minimum. That suits some groups perfectly.

For everyone else, the chartered coach is the version of camping where you still sleep in your own bed. You get the whole unhurried day at the lake and none of the teardown.
